Selected projects of COMAX ROOFS® realised with our partners over Czech Republic in the past season 2018. Also, this year, in this section we will focus on pitched roofs refurbishment and pitfalls associated with their ventilation and the quality of craftsmanship. SHEET METAL ROOFING COMAX TILE WITH STEEL CORE

The single-skin roof with its rugged surface hid many pitfalls and put the emphasis on the craftsmanship of the tinsmithing and carpenter firm SEKEL. The aluminium roofing Alukryt ® , which has been replaced by a sheet metal roofing COMAX TILE 350 with steel core, already exhibited leaks and malfunctions.

The main problem with the reconstruction of the roofing was the refurbishment of the old roof truss, which showed signs of damage by the by the wood-destroying pest and the deflection of the rafters in the main part of the roof gable towards the street to the walkway by up to 130 mm. For safety of pedestrians on adjacent roads, it was necessary to design a double-tubular snow trap, to secure the roof in case of a roof avalanche.

The snow scoops have been replaced by a double pipe system to prevent snow from sliding along the entire perimeter of the roof

Old chimneys in disrepair were demolished and removed

The individual roof planes were precisely aligned and subsequently fitted with 60 x 40 mm battens with a spacing of 350 mm

The truncation of the truss was sometimes even up to 130 mm and fitted with new beams

The roof structure showed slight damage by wood-destroying pests

Installation of gutter under DHV foil and under cover Comax Tile 350

The Jutadach Monolitic 150 g safety waterproofing layer was used, resistant to impregnation of used timber above the membrane

Tile Comax The tile was adapted to the individual lengths of roof surfaces according to the laying plan

Two rows of pipe catchers with ice breakers were used to prevent snow from sliding off the roof surfaces

The tubular snow catcher was designed according to the roof height after the rafter and the inclination of the individual roof surfaces

The corners and the ridge section of the roof were fitted with a ridge aluminum strip and a profiled round ridge with lower ridge ventilation requirements

For the higher roof surfaces, the standard Comax Tile Tile 200 mm was used

The rugged roof surfaces were fitted with elements in PES 3009

COMAX KLIK WITH STANDING SEAM IMITATION, FOR EASY CLICK OF THE SHEET LOCKS

Reconstruction of the office building of the former Wood Works in Velvary, which took place in 2016. On the simple gabled roof with low pitch, the main waterproofing layer was damaged, it was missing in several wind-stressed places. The building suffered from an improperly chosen type of roofing that did not match the existing pitch of the roof.

The safe pitch for the ALUKRYT® metal sheet was not followed by a full 19°. Overlapping of individual roofing templates for safe connection based on the pitch of roof surfaces and insufficient anchoring of the roofing in the area was also found to be unsatisfactory. As a suitable solution for the reconstruction of the roofing, the metal roofing COMAX KLIK WITH STEEL CORE was chosen that meets the requirements for pitch of roof from 9 °, and is also suitable for installation on classic battens 40 x 60 mm with a span of 250 mm.

The low slope of the roof surfaces, which was only 11 °, clearly determined the choice of COMAX KLIK

The chimney flashing together with the roof outlet is performed by classical double-grooving of the groove, which we never consider with this type of covering

For high-quality building timber with load-bearing function, the specified humidity is up to 20%

Lower pitch when installing laths ensure the surface of the main roof cladding for possible movement on the roof surface and prevent possible pressing of metal slats

With the help of a mobile crane, the covering was lifted to the roof area on several prepared pallets and secured against sliding and falling off the roof

Simple application of PE seal with a stapler to 40 x 60 mm slats

Simple fitting of the slat and subsequent snapping along the entire length of the hollow groove using a rubber mallet and wooden beam

By applying a polyethylene strip 5 x 100 mm under the individual roofing strips (the center of the slats) we reduce the noise and vibrations of the slats in the wind or rain

The 470 m2 roof was completed in a few days thanks to the easy installation of KLIK sheet metal covering

DOUBLE STANDING SEAM - COMAX FALC, METAL SHEETS INTENDED FOR SEAMING

The first stage of the reconstruction of the roofing of a family house in the village of Chržín near Velvary took place in 2016. This year we would like to complete the second stage of the reconstruction of the gable part of the roof with the supply of coated aluminium sheet intended for seaming with all additional assortment.

The original asphalt roofing for pitched roofs already showed signs of damage and leaked into the residential roof area of the house. The fitting company failed to lay the original roofing on the all-over deck and did not provide enough ventilation gap to vent the roof structure. This caused fraying, cracking and subsequent peeling of asphalt roofing, which resulted in the loss of its main waterproofing function. After the renovation of the interior without the possibility of changing the roof structure, the gable roof with many roof windows made it impossible to use the sheet metal roofing, which the customer originally chose for the simplicity of its installation on classic battening. The fixed layout of the roof windows and the age of the roof truss predetermined the use of the lightweight Comax Falc aluminium roofing, which was applied to the original all-over deck and adjusted to the roof structure and the current condition of the roof truss.
